Heavy rain and strong current

Went to Pulau Bai' again today at 7.00am to 4.00pm with the same group of people I went 2 weeks ago. The current was strong the whole day and it was raining heavily too. It was cold. I used 1kg RM10 prawn as bait. Anyway, my first and my last catch of today were palm size groupers. In between I caught 29 gelamas. I also caught a mayong which was about 800g. Gave it to a friend of mine. Anyway, the trip cost only RM13 per person. I'm looking forward for another trip like this again in the future.

Went fishing with Donny on 18th February from 9.30pm to 11.30pm. We used not-so-fresh squid and prawns as baits. I caught only this thin and about 5 inches long creature. Gave it to a man who was fishing nearby.

I'm looking forward for a trip to Pulau Bai' again this Sunday. Hope to get better catch this time.

Went fishing with Donny last Friday ( 13th February ) at 830pm. Planned to go to Hai Heng's scow but it was quite dark there. So we went to the area near the guard's house in Sandakan wet market. Used squid and prawn as bait. Like usual, I caught only an otek. As for Donny, he caught a sea snake. It took few minutes for him to handle it.

At about 10.00pm, we went to Sandakan navy base. Donny caught an otek there. As for me, there were lots of nibbles but no hook up at all.

I went to Pulau Bai'

Planned for a trip to Pulau Bai' last Sunday but it was cancelled. Few days ago, a friend whom I only met once while fishing nearby the guard house in Sandakan wet market SMSed and informed me that they are going to Pulau Bai'. Without thinking much, I agreed.
I woke up at 5.30am today and prepared myself for the trip. Bought 1kg of prawn and squid. Met them all at about 6.30am in Sandakan wet market. Had roti canai and teh tarik for breakfast. At about 7.30am, we got ourselves ready and headed for the boat. There were 14 of us. We did only bottom fishing. It was fun as most of them were friendly.
I managed to catch 12 fish. They were quite small. As for my other friends whom I hardly know their name, they caught a lot of gelamas, groupers, lepih, otek, sembilang, pari and also some which we hardly know their names. The record for today was a sembilang which was about the length of my arm.
The best thing for today's trip was that we only pay RM11 each fishing from 7.30am to 4.30pm.

Saturday night fever

Planned to go for a fishing trip to Pulau Bai today but it was cancelled. Felt so frustrated. So, Donny and I went to Sandakan Harbour Square last night at 1030pm. We used a giant squaid as bait. Caught only an otek with my new Relix rod and Shimano Slade reel equipped with 30lbs Power Pro braided line and 40lbs Protech leader. Released it back to the sea and that was my only catch last night. As for Donny, he caught a gelama. No mercy for it. Donny 'brutally' killed it and took it home. Went back at about 230am because of heavy rain.
